Positions for Those Already in the VBPTC

  • All trainees who have completed a JRMO positon within the VBPTC (Metropolitan and Extended Rural Streams) and are considered to be at the level appropriate to progress (as determined by the Progress Review Panel) will be offered a SRMO position within the VBPTC.  These trainees must also complete the relevant MCH application to confirm their acceptance of that position.

Positions for Those Applying to Enter the VBPTC

  • In order to be eligible to apply for entry into the VBPTC at SRMO level, you must have at least 12 months of paediatric experience following your intern year. A maximum of 6 months of neonatal experience can be counted towards this 12 months of paediatric experience. To apply for an SRMO position, you must submit your application directly to MCH – details can be found below, and in the Application Guide.

MCH is responsible for recruitment in the SRMO year.

PLEASE NOTE: there were no vacancies for entry into the training program at SRMO level in 2025. This status may change for recruitment to positions in 2026. If so, details will be provided here on the VBPTC website. We encourage prospective trainees to check the VBPTC website and Monash Health recruitment portal regularly.

Application process

  1. Apply online Monash Careers https://monashhealth.org/careers

  2. Submit documents as requested – CV, covering letter, referees, term reports

    • Please include in your CV any RACP accredited terms that you have completed

    • Submit a covering letter that addresses the selection criteria as outlined in the position description

    • Please include in your covering letter your permission for the selection panel to contact your ward supervisors

  3. Attend for interview if short listed

Please note: External applicants who are successful in securing an SRMO job but are not already in the RACP training program must receive Victorian DPE approval prior to registering for the Victorian Paediatric Training Program. An SRMO job does not necessarily guarantee entry into the Victorian Paediatric Training Program.
